A passionate and productive scientist, student, mystic, teacher and
healer, Dr Joyce Hawkes is internationally recognized for her work as a
research scientist and her more recent work as a teacher of Cell-Level
healing.

Her early work on the biophysics of cell structure and function
included a position as a Postdoctoral Fellow with the National
Institutes of Health. She published nearly 50 papers, abstracts, and
book chapters. The innovative excellence of her research earned her
election to the position of Fellow in the American Association for the
Advancement of Science, a position which she maintains presently.

In 1984, following a Near-Death Experience, she changed careers and
embarked on an extensive exploration of spiritual and healing
traditions. Recognized on first sight by her indigenous teachers as
authentically and exceptionally gifted, she was invited into the native cultures of healing wisdom by those who had not previously taken Western students.

Nearly three months living in the Philippines and work with a
native healer preceded her exploration of additional SE Asian healing
practices. A month long stay in South India and six trips to Bali to
work intensively with two native Hindu priest/shamans immersed her in
Eastern philosophy, remote village life, and first-hand experience of
numerous practical applications of indigenous healing modalities.

With thirty two years experience working as a spiritual counselor,
healer, and seminar leader across the USA and abroad,
Joyce combines her rigorous background as a scientist and her compassion as a healer in her presentations and writing.
